BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2007
AT 3:PM
PRESENT: Paul Lothrop, Chairman, Dr .James Taylor, Pat Lariviere
Jane Crowley, Health Agent
(Joyce Gibson - Stan Holt absent)
The Chairman opened the meeting at 3: P.M.
OPENING STATEMENTS:
The Health Agent informed the Board that over 400 potassium iodide (KI) pills have been dispensed.
Jane also stated that a plan was being develop to distribute pills to schools , hotels
and motels etc.
Paul Lothrop recommended a letter be sent to residents of the town to give guidance
about the use of lawn fertilizers. The letter should remind residents that organic fertilizers are available. He requested the letter be also sent to lawn care service installers.
Dr. Taylor said a public Work Shop could be held informing the home owners and lawn care installers about the effect fertilizers have on the water supply. Jane Crowley said she would contact Sue Rask a Environmental Specialist at Cape Cod Cooperative Extension Service in Barnstable and invite her to make a presentation.

Reflexology Practice - Paula Jellinghaus
Paul Jellinghaus requested that she be granted a license to practice reflexology
at Willy’s Gym. The Board would require a letter from her physician concerning her health before granting a license. Dr.Taylor and the Health Agent would formulate a list of questions to be submitted to Dr.Lacy, her physician. The Board would grant the license once the letter is received.
Pat Lariviere made the motion to approve the requested once the letter is received.
Dr. Taylor seconded the motion.

Matthew Teague submitted a plan (Brackett Ranch 1 - 2 Bedroom) at 51 Dory Lane. He also submitted plans for (Custom Duplex - 1 and 2 bedroom) at 34 and 36 Dory Lane .
Dr. Taylor made the motion to approve the plans submitted.
Pat Lariviere seconded the motion.

ENERGY PRESENTATION
Mr Brian Eastman, Chairman of the Energy Committee gave a presentation
on Wind Turbines. His presentation included the following issues that concerns the public relative to development of wind power in New England -
In My Backyard - aesthetics, property values, and tourism
Environmental Impacts - interaction with birds, bats, and other wildlife
Can a Wind Project be a Good Neighbor ? - turbine noise, shadow flicker, TV reception interference
Am I in Danger? - turbine ice shedding, blade throws
Mr. Eastman said to obtain more information on wind turbines go to the Web Site
